Tech gifts age fast, and dads notice. Hand him last year's model and he will know, probably within minutes, and probably out loud. So this list sticks to what is current for the 2026 holidays: Apple's second-generation AirTag, the AirPods Pro 3, Bose's latest flagship headphones, the Oura Ring 5, Meta's Gen 3 Ray-Ban glasses and a new Anker power bank shipping this fall.

It is also built around how dads actually use gadgets: to block out noise, to stop losing keys, to keep phones alive, and to run the house (the lawn and the front door included) from the couch. Expect a few subscriptions along the way. We flag every one, so the gift does not come with a surprise bill.

In this guide: 11 gifts
  1. For peace and quiet
  2. Wearables worth wearing
  3. Never lost, never dead
  4. Smart home, dad edition

For peace and quiet

No. 01
QuietComfort Ultra Headphones (2nd Gen)
Splurge

QuietComfort Ultra Headphones (2nd Gen)

Bose

Best for: The dad who mows, commutes or flies and wants total silence

Bose's flagship over-ears are the gift for a dad who has earned an hour of quiet. The second generation keeps the plush, pressure-spreading fit and adds a few genuinely useful things: lossless listening over USB-C, a Cinema Mode that makes movie dialogue clearer, and CustomTune, which adapts the sound to the shape of his ears. Battery runs up to 30 hours (23 with Immersive Audio on), and a 15-minute charge buys three hours. A carry case and both cables are in the box.

Good to know: There is no power adapter in the box, and Bose advises keeping them out of wet conditions, so they are not gym headphones.

No. 02
AirPods Pro 3

AirPods Pro 3

Apple

Best for: The iPhone dad who wears earbuds from school drop-off to bedtime

Apple's current Pro earbuds are a big step up if he is still on an older pair. Apple says the AirPods Pro 3 cancel up to twice as much noise as the AirPods Pro 2, and they now sense heart rate and calories during workouts, so they can stand in for a fitness band at the gym. Battery is rated at up to 8 hours with noise canceling on, and the built-in Hearing Aid feature can be a quiet help for a dad who struggles in loud restaurants.

Good to know: They make the most sense with an iPhone, and retailers like Amazon often discount them below Apple's $249.

The Dad Who Knew Everything Personalized Book

Adorabook

Best for: The dad with an answer (and a gadget) for everything

Every dad thinks he knows everything, and this story proves it (sort of). It's a funny, personal storybook built around his real quirks and his go-to advice, with him illustrated as the hero from a photo you upload. Among the chargers and earbuds, it's the gift that ends up on the shelf for good.

Good to know: Order by December 6 for Christmas delivery with free standard US shipping.

Wearables worth wearing

No. 04
Oura Ring 5

Oura Ring 5

Oura

Best for: The dad who wants sleep data but will not wear a watch to bed

A fitness tracker for people who do not want a gadget on their wrist. Oura's new Ring 5 is 40 percent thinner, lighter and smaller than before, and it tracks sleep stages, readiness, 24/7 heart rate, heart rate variability and blood oxygen, with automatic detection of more than 40 activities. The battery lasts six to nine days depending on ring size and use, and a full charge takes about 80 minutes. For a tired dad, the morning sleep score can be a revelation, or a warning.

Good to know: Full insights need an Oura membership ($5.99 a month or $69.99 a year after a free first month), and the gold and other premium finishes cost $499.

No. 05
Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 3) AI Glasses

Ray-Ban Meta (Gen 3) AI Glasses

Ray-Ban Meta

Best for: The dad who misses the moment because he is busy filming it

Smart glasses that look like normal sunglasses, in the newest version of Meta's best-known pair. Ray-Ban Meta glasses hide a camera, open-ear speakers and microphones in classic Ray-Ban frames, so he can capture a first bike ride from his own point of view without holding up a phone, take calls and play music on a walk, and ask Meta AI questions by voice. The Gen 3 is the current generation, and it is the rare gadget that helps him put the phone away.

Good to know: Prescription and specialty lenses can push the price past $449, and he should get in the habit of telling people when he is recording.

Never lost, never dead

No. 06
AirTag (2nd generation)
Crowd-pleaser

AirTag (2nd generation)

Apple

Best for: The dad who has lost his keys three times today

The new AirTag looks like the old one but finds things better. Apple's second generation, released in January 2026, has a speaker about 50 percent louder, audible from up to twice as far away, and up to 1.5 times the Precision Finding range, which shows exact distance and direction on a compatible iPhone. Clip one to the keys, drop one in the work bag and tuck one in a suitcase. It sells as a single for $29 or in a four-pack for $99.

Good to know: It needs an iPhone or iPad to set up and use, and the key ring or holder is sold separately.

No. 07
Nano Charger (45W) with 6 ft USB-C Cable

Nano Charger (45W) with 6 ft USB-C Cable

Anker

Best for: The dad who keeps borrowing everyone else's charger

A small, cheap upgrade that ends the household charger wars. This Anker Nano block puts out 45 watts over USB-C, enough to fast-charge a phone or tablet and keep a small laptop topped up, in a foldable body only about 1.3 inches on each side. It comes with a 6-foot USB-C to USB-C cable, long enough to reach from the outlet to the couch or the far side of the nightstand. At this price, it is worth buying two: one for home and one for the travel bag.

Good to know: Anker lists it as not compatible with the iPhone 17 Air, and laptops that need 65 watts or more will charge slowly.

No. 08
MagGo 2 Pro Magnetic Power Bank (10K, Qi2 25W)

MagGo 2 Pro Magnetic Power Bank (10K, Qi2 25W)

Anker

Best for: The dad whose phone dies by halftime at every tournament

Anker's newest magnetic battery snaps onto the back of an iPhone and charges it wirelessly at up to 25 watts using the Qi2.2 standard, with active cooling to keep heat in check. A USB-C port handles up to 45 watts in or out, so it can also charge earbuds or a second phone. Inside is 10,000mAh, with a smart display that shows what is left and a built-in kickstand for watching the game. It weighs 7.7 ounces.

Good to know: It is a pre-order, with shipping listed for October 21 to November 9, 2026, and Anker lists iPhone 13 through 17 models as compatible (not the 16e).

Smart home, dad edition

No. 09
Rachio 3 Smart Sprinkler Controller

Rachio 3 Smart Sprinkler Controller

Rachio

Best for: The dad who considers the lawn a member of the family

For the dad who checks the forecast before watering, this does it for him. The Rachio 3 replaces an old sprinkler timer and runs the system from an app: Rain Skip pauses watering when rain is expected, Seasonal Shift adjusts run times through the year, and he can start or stop a zone from anywhere. Rachio says most users save 20 percent or more water versus traditional controllers. It comes in 4, 8 and 16 zone versions and works with Alexa and Google Home.

Good to know: It needs an existing in-ground sprinkler system to replace, and outdoor installs need a weatherproof enclosure sold separately.

No. 10
Battery Doorbell 4K Pro

Battery Doorbell 4K Pro

Ring

Best for: The dad who tracks every package to the porch

Ring's newest battery doorbell is a real jump in detail. The 4K Pro records Retinal 4K video with up to 10x enhanced zoom and a square, head-to-toe 140-by-140-degree view, so the package on the mat and the face at the door are both in frame. Radar-based 3D Motion Detection tracks where movement is happening, and the removable Quick Release battery recharges over USB-C. There is no wiring, and Ring estimates about 10 minutes to install it himself.

Good to know: Video recording, person alerts and other advanced features require a paid Ring Protect plan.

No. 11
Birdbuddy Nook Solar Smart Bird Feeder
Editor's pick

Birdbuddy Nook Solar Smart Bird Feeder

Birdbuddy

Best for: The dad who now announces bird sightings at dinner

The gadget that turns the backyard into a family group chat. Birdbuddy's new Nook Solar is a smart feeder with a built-in camera that snaps 5 MP photos and HDR video, slow motion included, through a 135-degree lens, and its AI recognizes which species are visiting. The solar roof comes in the box, so the camera should rarely need charging, the body is IP67 weatherproof, and it holds 3.8 cups of seed. He can share the feed with up to ten people.

Good to know: Automatic identification of every visitor needs Birdbuddy Premium ($98.99 a year after a free month), and the Nook starts delivering in November.

Questions people ask

What tech gifts do dads actually use?

The ones that fix daily annoyances. An item tracker like the AirTag, a fast charger and a good pair of earbuds or headphones get used every day, which makes them safe bets. Bigger-ticket gadgets like smart glasses or a smart ring are great if he loves new tech, and less so if he is still happily using a phone from 2019.

Do AirTags work with Android phones?

Not for finding things. AirTag runs on Apple's Find My network and needs an iPhone or iPad to set it up and use Precision Finding. Android phones can alert their owners to an unknown AirTag traveling with them, as an anti-stalking safeguard, but cannot use one to locate keys. For an Android dad, choose a tracker built for Google's network instead.

Which gifts on this list need a subscription?

Three of them. The Oura Ring 5 needs a membership ($5.99 a month or $69.99 a year) for its full insights, the Ring doorbell needs a Ring Protect plan to record video and send person alerts, and Birdbuddy charges for Premium species identification. Rachio's app has no monthly fees, though the brand offers some premium features.
